Vinny Rubino joined the NYIT baseball coaching staff in June 2012. Rubino came to NYIT after spending the previous nine years as the varsity baseball coach at St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset, N.Y.
While at St. Mary’s, Rubino and his staff were honored once with the CHSAA Coach of the Year Award and the Sportsmanship Coaches Award three times. During his tenure at St. Mary’s, Rubino mentored 13 student athletes in achieving a NCAA Division I Baseball Scholarship.
Rubino played second base and was an outfielder from 1990-1993 at LIU Post under the mentoring of ACBA Hall of Fame Coach Dick Vining. Rubino was also a member of the 1991 ECAC Championship team.
A native of Little Neck, N.Y., Rubino attended Benjamin N. Cardozo High School in Queens, N.Y., where he lettered three years in baseball. Rubino played second base and was a key member of winning the 1998 PSAL Championship at Yankee Stadium. Rubino was selected by the NY Daily News All-City team and the Exceptional Senior team in 1989.
Rubino was a Board Member of the Oceanside American Little League for the past four year. Rubino is also currently the manager of the Long Island Whalers 13U summer travel team.
