Lacrosse's Kistinger, tennis' Charkiewicz, Caldas honored by ECC

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — Lacrosse captain Will Kistinger and tennis players Rafal Charkiewicz and Francisco Caldas took home prestigious weekly honors from the East Coast Conference.

Kistinger was named Player of the Week for men's lacrosse after contributing four goals and three assists in a 15-11 win at Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday as the Bears remained unbeaten in league play. He now has 115 career goals, which ranks sixth in school history.

Charkiewicz, the Player of the Week for men's tennis, helped fuel a 7-2 win against Merrimack on Saturday at Sportime Syosset. In second singles, Charkiewicz defeated Frank Vega 6-3, 6-2. He also teamed with Rares Ispas to defeat Alex Fedorov and Vega, 8-4, in second doubles.

Caldas, the ECC Rookie of the Week for men's tennis, also swept a pair of matches against Merrimack. He had an epic 6-7, 6-4, 11-9 win at fourth singles against Fedorov and teamed with Jaime Salvador at third doubles to defeat Alex Slobin and Tayyab Sheikh, 8-5.

Meanwhile, women's lacrosse attacker Karie Znaniecki earned an appearance on the ECC's honor roll. Znaniecki had a combined nine goals and 10 assists in games against Bentley, McKendree and Philadelphia during the past week.
