OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — Make it a four-peat for Rafal Charkiewicz.
Charkiewicz, the NYIT men's tennis team's first-singles standout, earned first-team All-East Coast Conference honors for the fourth straight year on Thursday.
Teammate and doubles partner Rares Ispas was named second-team All-ECC.
The Bears, the four-time reigning ECC champions, enter the league playoffs as the No. 2 seed. They will face No. 3 seed UDC on Friday afternoon at Queens College.
The winner will advance to Saturday's championship match against top-seeded Queens or No. 4-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas.
NYIT beat UDC, 6-3, in Washington last weekend. Queens snapped the Bears' 29-match ECC winning streak on April 5.
Charkiewicz went unbeaten in conference matches this season.
"I'm honored to receive this award four times throughout my college career," Charkiewicz said. "And I'll try to lead the team to victory this weekend as a senior."
Sharvill Nawghre of Queens was named ECC Player of the Year. Paul Langbroek of Roberts Wesleyan was named Rookie of the Year. Somadi Druker was named Coach of the Year.
"Rafal is a great team player and fantastic competitor," NYIT assistant coach Owen Kassimir said. "And Rares is a fighter in every match to the end."
