OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2013) - Junior Sara Burinato (Barcelona, Spain) clinched the match victory with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at third singles to help #14 NYIT women's tennis to a 9-0 win over LIU Post Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Bears improved to 10-0 on the season and 7-0 in East Coast Conference action. The Pioneers dropped to 4-6 overall and 4-4 in league action.
One doubles and one singles match were awarded to NYIT by default as LIU Post did not have enough players. The Bears then cruised through doubles with two 8-0 wins. NYIT headed into singles play with a 4-0 lead. Only four game points were surrendered throughout the match.
NYIT returns to action later this afternoon on the road against Dowling College. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist High School in Babylon, N.Y.
