Simatei, Fowler, Rossetti honored with ECC weekly awards

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — Noah Simatei and Allison Fowler again garnered well-deserved accolades from the East Coast Conference on Monday. This week, they are joined by Alessia Rossetti in receiving recognition from the league.

After finishing first among Division II and III and JUCO participants in the five-mile Fordham Fiasco on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx with a time of 26:49.78, Simatei has been named ECC Runner of the Week for men's cross country. Last week, after a successful performance at the Adelphi Invitational to begin his collegiate career, Simatei had been named ECC Rookie of the Week.

Fowler is the repeat winner as ECC Setter of the Week after the volleyball team went 4-0 at the Georgian Court University Invitational. Her weekend including a triple-double in a four-set win against New Haven: 10 kills, 44 assists and 12 digs. Fowler, along with teammate Karolina Moderova, were named to the all-tournament team.

Rossetti, the ECC Player of the Week for women's tennis, breezed to a pair of wins at first singles this past week to open the season — 6-1, 6-0 against Wilmington's Begona Gomar and 6-0, 6-0 against UDC's Dominika Hadnadova. She also teamed with Ivana Andric for a pair of wins at first doubles.

Also recognized by the ECC this week as part of the league's honor roll: Moderova (volleyball) and Irene Chepleting (women's cross country).
