Noah Simatei closes freshman season with solid race against Division I competition

BRONX, N.Y. — Freshman Noah Simatei concluded his remarkable fall cross country season racing among some elite competition.

Running in the IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx against mostly Division I competition, Simatei posted a five-mile time of 27:06.09. That placed Simatei 92nd of the 203 runners in the elite field.

Simatei won three races outright during his freshman season — the NYIT Invitational, LIU Post Invitational and NJIT Invitational.

Competing in a second race at the same venue on Saturday, senior Devon Lides posted a five-mile time of 31:12.9 to close his collegiate career. Freshman Kyle Acapana finished in 32:34.8.

In the second race on the women's side, the ECAC Coaches Race, Irene Chepleting posted a 5K time of 20:58.1 to close her sophomore season. Meanwhile, freshman Monicah Jebor finished in 21:32.9.
